The Beer Alchemist is something that resonated with me for quite some time. It refers to a person who is skilled in the art of brewing beer, inspired from the alchemist who transforms things for the better. In my opinion, the term "alchemist" suggests someone who is knowledgeable and skilled in the art of brewing and who takes a scientific and creative approach to creating high-quality, flavorful beer.

Brewing beer involves a number of steps, including selecting and sourcing ingredients, developing and refining recipes, and carefully controlling the fermentation process. The Beer Alchemist would be someone who is knowledgeable about all of these steps and who has a passion for experimenting with different ingredients and techniques to create new ,innovative and high quality beers.

Hi! My name is Umang Nair, and I kicked off my career as an engineer, before my love of beer got the better of me. My quest to find good beers led me to delve deeper into learning about beer and the science behind it, eventually leaving behind my cozy job to take up brewing full time. My training as a professional brewer began at the first packaging craft beer brewery in Mumbai . Later on I received a Master's in Brewing from the prestigious Siebel Institute in Chicago,USA and Doemens Academy Munich,Germany and a certification from the Institute of Brewing and Distilling,UK & the Indian School of Business(ISB).

Currently I am heading the brewing operations of multiple breweries in various cities in India including but not limited to Bangalore, Mumbai,Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam,Bhubaneshwar,Varanasi and a few newer towns brewing for over 11 years going on to put out a variety of craft beer styles. Bangalore being the base of the operations. My brewing philosophy is to constantly keep improving processes, increase efficiency, and produce top-quality beers. Beers that are designed and brewed keeping in mind the demands of the market while also introducing new beers styles to help the customers grow their understanding of Craft Beers.

My favorite style of beer would definitely be a lager. I guess off late it's been a favorite. A good crisp lager would do us all good! Experimenting with different new techniques has always been at the helm of the thinking I work with, whether we get a chance to pursue it or not. Keeping up to date is key!

I’ve started this blog for the primary reason to educate and put my thoughts out there and get as much information out there as possible. I think we are at a cusp of bringing change and the brewing industry at a global stage. A twitterverse maybe ?
